Beautiful Light and Fog on Lake Superior
At the beginning of June 2021, my family and I traveled up north along the north shore of Lake Superior for a week of hiking, exploring and relaxation. On one of our days out we stopped in Grand Marais, MN and were greeted by a very calm Lake Superior illuminated by gorgeous light that was being diffused through a gentle fog that rolled over the lake. The views everywhere were breathtaking and I could not stop photographing the things we saw.
This image below is my personal favorite from that day.
This was captured using my new Fujifilm GFX100s and the GF32-64mm lens (zoomed to 64mm). I shot handheld and then gently tweaked the raw file in Capture One 21 using the Fujifilm Nostalgic Negative film simulation (with a small bump in saturation). Once I was happy with the work in Capture One, I printed an 8x8 image on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta paper using my Epson P900. The print looks and feels like the image on screen, with soft tones and the subtle texture that only Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta can provide.
