Beautiful Evening Light…

I am so thankful to live on acreage. Within a short walk I have a multitude of beautiful scenes available to me. Just to the west of our pole barn is this maple tree that my children love to climb and play under. The weather tonight was warmer than usual, with a small amount of haze softening and defracting the sunlight as it began to slowly set. This is some of my favorite light as it provides a soft look to my images while still providing enough contrast to make my subject stand out.

This was captured around 7:45pm with my new Fujifilm X100V with the Tele Conversion Lens (giving a 50mm equivalent field of view. I shot handheld at f/2, ISO 320 at 1/320s and then tweaked the raw file in Capture One 20 using the Fujifilm Acros film simulation (with red filter). Once I was happy with the work in Capture One, I then edited it further within Affinity Photo by warming it up a bit using a split-toning adjustment layer, a little dodging & burning with the levels mask, and then added a soft vignette to finish off the image.

This image will definitely get printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta paper. But I will also make a gorgeous metal print!
